Since its creation in 1980, the PUCV Faculty of Sciences has —through the light of faith— cultivated sciences, arts and technical skills by creating and communicating knowledge and forming graduates and professionals with a vocation of service to society.
Its work focuses on providing quality teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs in the areas of mathematics, statistics, chemistry, physics, biology, medical technology and kinesiology. In addition to promoting research in its various areas, its adaptive outreach to regional, national and international spheres place it in a leading position, contributing to the training of new scientists and the development of the Valparaiso region and the country.
Faculty of Science, USACH
Created in 1975, the USACH Faculty of Science is responsible for teaching, research and development, and outreach in the fields of the physical sciences, mathematics, statistics, mathematics education, pedagogy in physical and mathematical sciences, and computer science.
This entity is not only characterized by its academic excellence, but also for being at the forefront of, and consistently contributing effective responses to, public policies and priority needs of our society.
Faculty of Chemistry and Biology, USACH
Created in 1994, the USACH Faculty of Chemistry and Biology has the mission of teaching and conducting research, outreach and improvement in the areas of chemistry and biology sciences and those related to these disciplines. This body is recognized nationally and internationally for its leadership in productivity and the quality of its research. Among its main objectives is the creation of high impact scientific and technological knowledge in accordance with the needs of the country and the challenges imposed by society.

Founded in March 1972, the mission of the UCN Faculty of Sciences is the search for truth in order to contribute to the development of people and society through the cultivation of basic sciences and the education and improvement of professionals and scientists. Currently, it is the institution hosting the Departments of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and is noted for its important developments, research work, and community outreach.
Faculty of Marine Sciences, UCN
The mission of the UCN Faculty of Marine Sciences is to create, cultivate and disseminate the generation of new knowledge of the forms, functions and processes of the marine environment and its products, and to achieve a harmonization among the human activities related to the conservation and preservation of the environment and the sustainable use of the environment and its resources. It is home to the Departments of Aquaculture, Marine Biology and the School of Risk Prevention and Environment.
It also includes associated researchers from the Center for Advanced Studies in Arid Zones and the Center for Research and Technological Development in Algae of the Universidad Católica del Norte.

Department of Geological Sciences
Inaugurated in 1987, the UCN Faculty of Engineering and Geological Sciences has prodigiously worked towards mining and related activities. Within its institutions is the Department of Geological Sciences, whose mission is to contribute to the knowledge of Geology, with emphasis on the sustainable management of the country’s natural resources, through undergraduate and graduate teaching and research of excellence, strengthening outreach with productive and social actors.
